Tivenys belongs to the district of Baix Ebre of the province of Tarragona. It has a territorial extension of 53,5 Km2.

Some interesting history facts of Tivenys...

Tivenys is a town of Arabic origin situated on the left side of the River Ebro, opposite the municipality of Xerta. Agriculture is the main activity of its inhabitants. In the dry farming area the main crops are olives, almonds and carob, whereas in the irrigated area the main crops are peaches, oranges and vegetables, which use water from the lock on the left side of the Ebro.
The main industry is craft pottery, which has a long tradition. In 1840 there were 20 potteries, four oil presses and a gypsum factory in Tivenys. There is still a saddler's shop that works leather by hand to make equipment for animals.
