Deltebre has a surface of 95,01 km2. and an
altitude of 6 meters of the level of the sea. It belongs to the
region of the Baix Ebre (Province of Tarragona). The Municipality
of Deltebre re-groups the towns of Cava and Jesus and Maria.

facts of Deltebre...
It is during the half of the XVII century when there is certainty
of a permanent population. In XII century the lands of the delta
of the Ebro arrived until the island of Grace and during XVI century
the lands arrived until the beach of the Marquise. A small part
of the population lived on the hunting, the fishing and of the extraction
of the marine salt. Commerce with Majorca and some Italian cities
existed. Initially the population that dedicated itself to the commerce
established then self’s in the left of the Delta, and the
shepherds in the interior. In year 1818 the first parish was constructed.
King Alfonso XII, in 1912 approved the construction of the channel
that is located to the left of the Ebro. In years 60 the Delta,
increases the production of fruit with an improvement of the local
economy. It is in the 1977 when Deltebre takes an own place due
to the segregation from the municipalities of Cava and Jesus Maria
from the Municipality of Tortosa.
