Some interesting history facts of
Alfara
de Carles ...
The village has probably an Arabian origin, because the name derives
from the name "Alfahar" which means "pottery".
This can explain that there could have been a set of inhabitants
who worked with the mud.
In 1480 Alfara welcome the inhabitants of Carles, which was six
km. far from Alfara. The inhabited place of Carles (which had been
known as Castles) appears in a document in the year 1148.
In 1479 Carles suffered a strong epidemic, and the
survivors left the village and went to Alfara. This is why Alfara
changed its name into "Alfara de Carles".
