Your Property in Aldover
Aldover belongs to the district of Baix Ebre of the province
of Tarragona. It covers a territorial extension of 19, 2 Km2. It is
located 25 minutes inland, on the west side of the River Ebro occupying
the first two fluvial terraces. The first one is composed of the river
sediments left many years ago, and the second terrace is composed
by calcareous combinations, covered by all kind of bushes typical
of the area: romani, farigola, espigol, argelagues, esparregueres,
etc. Some interesting
history facts of Aldover...
The first signs of life in the area date back to the pre-iberic era.
The name given to this area was ‘lo Tossal’. Archaeologists
have found a large quantity of bronze works, which have been dated
to the year 1500 before Christ. It is not until the invasion of the
Arabs, that we can say that the village of Aldover was born. The name
of Aldover comes from ‘al-duwair’ which means ‘the
little house’. Then, in 1149, Ramon Berenguer IV conquers again
the area, and splits it in three: one part for Sr. Guilabert, another
part for the church of Tortosa, and the other for the Jewish. During
the Modern Era (XV-XVIII) Aldover gets is independence as municipality
from the city of Tortosa.
